ILCU: Brexit and the Border

The following is a circulation issued to us by the Irish League of Credit Unions

The ILCU is organising a public meeting on Brexit, on Thursday 11th April in the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Shaw's Bridge, Belfast from 7.15pm to 9pm. The meeting will be chaired by John Campbell, Economics and Business Editor BBC. The guest speakers will be Dr Esmond Bernie, Senior Economist Ulster University Economic Policy Centre, Aodhán Connolly, Director at Northern Ireland Retail Consortium, Professor Chris McCrudden, Professor of Human Rights and Equality Law, QUB, and Dr Katy Hayward, Brexit Expert, QUB.

Brexit is already, and will increasingly become, a major issue for the island of Ireland. This is especially true for border communities, and for people and laces dependent on cross-border and British-Irish trade. Credit unions in border areas are already well aware of this reality. Inevitably, people affected by Brexit will turn to credit unions for support when in difficulty.

The meeting is intended to inform our members and the general public. It is a means for the League to support credit unions locally and for local credit unions to give leadership in the community. It will offer expertise from the invited guests and invite questions from he audience.

The meeting is open to the general public and ALL are welcome.

Please let us know if you will be attending and we will inform the ILCU of rough attendance figures.
